The Laredo Police Department (LPD) has issued a Press Release on the arrest of one of their own.

It appears LPD Investigator Robert Richard Ramirez was charged with Abuse of Official Capacity, Class A Misdemeanor; Official Oppression, Class A Misdemeanor; and Prohibited Recommendations or Solicitations, Class B Misdemeanor.

LPD states Mr. Ramirez is a 31 year veteran with the department.

He is currently on administrative reassignment pending the outcome of the judicial process. Such placement is their established procedures.

The LPD is assisting the Texas Rangers; as well as, conducting its own internal investigation.

“The Laredo Police Department Office of Professional Standards is collaborating with the Texas Rangers in the investigation. The Department will also conduct a thorough administrative investigation into the case. The findings of that investigation will determine the outcome of what disciplinary action will take place. The seriousness of the allegations into this case are concerning and these actions are against the core values of the Laredo Police Department.”
