We received information through the Texas Public Information Act (TPIA) process from the City of Harlingen and the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) that shows John David Osborne Jr retired from the Harlingen Police Department to pursue another career opportunity with the Valley International Airport (VIA) in Harlingen, Texas.

It appears he submitted his notice to retire on or about December 8, 2020, with an anticipated start date with VIA of January 3, 2021.

The personnel action form, not signed by the employee, shows a retirement effective on January 3, 2021.

TCOLE shows a start date on Osborne’s Personal Status Report (PSR) of January 4, 2021.

It is our understanding, the VIA Police Department is around nine or ten personnel.
