A violent disturbance outside a Guadalupe County bar earlier this month has resulted in multiple arrests, including two licensed Texas peace officers—one of whom was later fired—according to a detailed statement from the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office and confirmed by jail records.
Fight Reported at Backwoods Icehouse
On November 3, 2025, the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting several individuals fighting in the parking lot of the Backwoods Icehouse, located at 3301 Dreibrodt Road. When deputies arrived, they discovered an active disturbance involving multiple subjects.
Deputies identified Alberto Raul Trujano, Juan Carlos Herrera, and Sheriden Gregory Murray at the scene. Investigators later learned that Manuel Hernandez Jr., a sheriff’s deputy, had also been involved but fled before deputies arrived.
Arrest at the Scene: Alberto Trujano

Deputies arrested Alberto Raul Trujano, 34, on an outstanding Parole Violation warrant. Jail records show he was booked into the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center the same day. In addition to the parole violation, Trujano was charged with Disorderly Conduct – Fighting related to the bar incident. His booking file lists a $500 personal recognizance bond for the disorderly conduct charge.
Trujano’s record also shows two unrelated Driving While Intoxicated cases out of Hays County, with bonds set at $6,000 and $2,000, respectively. He is described in jail records as a 5’3”, 165-lb male from New Braunfels.
Herrera, who sustained injuries during the altercation, was transported by EMS to Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle.
Texas Rangers Join the Investigation
Due to the involvement of two licensed peace officers—Murray and Hernandez—the case was turned over to the Guadalupe County Criminal Investigations Division, which partnered with the Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers Division. Detectives conducted multiple interviews with witnesses, involved subjects, and responding officers.
Their findings resulted in arrest warrants issued on November 19 and 20, 2025 for Murray, Hernandez, and Herrera.
Arrest and Release of Sheriff’s Deputy Manuel Hernandez Jr.
According to jail records, Manuel Hernandez Jr., 31, was taken into custody on November 19, 2025, for Disorderly Conduct – Fighting, tied to the brawl at Backwoods Icehouse. His booking documents show he received a $1 personal recognizance bond and was released on November 20, 2025.
Jail records list Hernandez as a 5’8”, 195-lb male from New Braunfels. The offense date is recorded as November 3, 2025.
The Sheriff’s Office confirmed Hernandez had been placed on paid administrative leave at the outset of the investigation. Following a parallel administrative review, his employment was terminated on November 19, 2025, coinciding with his arrest.

Arrest of Former Deputy Sheriden Gregory Murray

Jail records show Sheriden Gregory Murray, 37, surrendered to the Guadalupe County Jail on November 20, 2025, on a charge of Unlawful Restraint, a Class A misdemeanor arising from the same incident. He was booked into the Main Jail facility and released on November 21, 2025, after posting a $10,000 surety bond.
Murray is described in jail records as a 6’2”, 206-lb male from New Braunfels. The offense is also dated November 3, 2025.

He is described as a 5’11”, 199-lb male, also from New Braunfels.

Sheriff Ray Condemns Conduct
Sheriff Joshua Ray issued a strongly worded statement following the arrests, emphasizing the importance of accountability within law enforcement:
“Our personnel will be held to the highest possible standards of conduct and accountability. I will not tolerate any form of unbecoming or criminal behavior from a law enforcement officer—of any agency—and especially from within my own ranks. This conduct has absolutely no place in our profession. The public deserves better, and I insist on it.”
Ray also thanked the Texas Rangers for their assistance and noted that his command staff acted swiftly “without hesitation” once the incident was reported.
