Hays County Sets 2026 Primary Election Sites

Hays County Sets 2026 Primary Election Sites

By

The Hays County Commissioners Court on January 20, 2026, approved a countywide list of polling locations for the upcoming joint primary election, allowing eligible voters to cast ballots at any open vote center during both early voting and on Election Day.

Countywide Vote Center System in Place

Hays County will not use assigned polling places for the primary election. Instead, voters may choose whichever vote center location is most convenient. All vote centers will be equipped to serve voters participating in either the Republican or Democratic primary.

County officials said every vote center location will be accessible under the Americans with Disabilities Act and will offer curbside voting options for individuals who require assistance.

Elections Administrator Jennifer Doinoff said the system is designed to improve access and participation.

“The Vote Center system gives voters flexibility and removes barriers to participation,” Doinoff said. “Voters can cast their ballot at any open location, whether they vote early or on Election Day.”

Early Voting Schedule and Requirements

Early in-person voting is scheduled to run from February 17 through February 27, with 13 early voting locations proposed for the election. Under Chapter 85 of the Texas Election Code, the Commissioners Court must approve both early voting locations and the voting schedule.

County records indicate one proposed early voting site, Sunfield Station, carries an estimated cost of $1,500.

Officials are encouraging residents to vote early to avoid potential lines on Election Day and to ensure a smoother voting process.

Vote-by-Mail Deadline Approaching

Voters planning to cast ballots by mail must submit their application by Friday, February 20, 2026. Election officials warn that waiting until the final days to apply increases the risk that ballots may not arrive in time to be counted.

Election Day Information

Election Day for the joint primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026. As with early voting, voters may use any open vote center location throughout Hays County.

“The most important thing for voters to remember is that they can vote anywhere in Hays County during early voting and on Election Day,” Doinoff said. “We encourage voters to cast their ballots early to avoid potential lines on Election Day.”

Polling Locations Across Hays County

Approved vote center locations span communities throughout the county, including San Marcos, Kyle, Buda, Wimberley, and the Dripping Springs/Austin area. Several sites will serve as early voting locations, including the Hays County Elections Office, LBJ Student Center at Texas State University, Kyle City Hall, Buda City Hall, Texan Academy at Scudder, and Patriots’ Hall of Dripping Springs, among others.
