Former Llano Police Officer Fired, Arrested on Three Family Violence Charges

By

Steven Webster Patin of Kingsland, a former Llano police officer, was booked into the Llano County Jail on three felony family violence-related charges. The Llano Police Department said it fired Patin after conducting an internal inquiry into an alleged off-duty domestic violence incident. Information uncovered during that inquiry prompted the department to contact the Texas Rangers, whose investigation led to multiple arrest warrants. Patin was taken into custody without incident.

Patin worked for the Llano Police Department since February 2023. Prior to that he was briefly employed by the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office.

Three Felony Charges Filed

Patin is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, with bond set at $125,000. He also faces charges of continuous violence against the family and assault of a family or household member by impeding breath or circulation. Bond was set at $50,000 on each of those charges, bringing the combined amount to $225,000.

Police Chief Condemns Domestic Violence

“Domestic violence, in any form, is unacceptable and it goes against the very laws and principles we work to uphold as law enforcement officers,” Police Chief John Bauer said. “It will not be tolerated within our ranks.” Authorities have not identified the alleged victim or disclosed when the alleged conduct occurred or what type of deadly weapon was reportedly involved. The Texas Rangers continue to lead the active investigation, and no additional information has been released.

The charges are allegations, and Patin is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
