A Hays Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) teacher has been arrested following an investigation into an alleged improper relationship with a student. On Friday, April 24, 2026, the Kyle Police Department reported receiving information about an inappropriate interaction involving a teacher and a high school student within Hays CISD. After conducting an investigation, officers arrested Juan Gomez, 40, of Buda.
Gomez has been charged with improper relationship between an educator and student, a second-degree felony under Texas law. Jail records show the charge is tied to an alleged offense date of April 13, 2026. A $50,000 surety bond was set.
Gomez has been employed as a math teacher at Lehman High School since July 2023. Kyle police stated they are continuing to work with school officials as the investigation remains active. Authorities emphasized that student safety is the top priority.
