Pleasanton Police Sergeant Suspended Over Comment, Resigns Weeks Later

By

A Pleasanton police sergeant is no longer with the department following a disciplinary case that began earlier this year. Sergeant Ricardo Olveda, who had more than a decade with the agency, was suspended in January 2026, and later separated from employment on March 13, 2026. Records show the suspension came first, followed by his departure weeks later. No detailed public explanation has been released regarding the circumstances of his resignation.

Suspension Over Inappropriate Comment

The findings show Olveda made a remark to another officer while several colleagues were present. During that interaction, he referenced a conversation involving the police chief and suggested that the officer had been “pillow talking” with the chief. The statement implied a romantic or personal relationship between the officer and a superior within the department. Investigators determined the comment was inappropriate and out of line, particularly because it was made openly in front of other officers and because Olveda was a supervisor.

Career Background and Departure

Olveda had served with the Pleasanton Police Department since 2015, following earlier positions with Edgewood ISD Police in San Antonio and the Somerset Police Department. At each of the prior department Olveda spent about two years with them.

Olveda signed a hand written resignation citing his last day as March 13, 2026. It is not clear whether additional incidents or internal actions occurred between the suspension and his departure. We are working on obtaining further information related to the separation.
