Cameron County Commissioners Court to Discuss Transitioning the Courthouse Security to the Cameron County Sheriff

By

On April 23, 2021, the Cameron County Commissioners Court posted a supplement agenda which shows discussions to take place on courthouse security.

At this point, it is unclear what will occur; however, what is shown is improper process was performed by Sheriff Eric Garza which caused a temporary restraining order.

Now the Commissioners Court appears to be figuring out a way to transition the courthouse security to the Sheriff’s Office.

The meeting is scheduled on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at 9:00 AM. This is before the 4 PM court hearing on the temporary restraining order.

There is a possibility the order could be lifted and control of the courthouse security could be transferred to the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office by the end of the 27th of April.
