Hays Pro Tem has a Deadline to Respond to Motion for Contempt of Court

Afton Washbourne, a Hays County Pro Tem employed by the Travis County Attorney’s Office was served a Motion for Contempt of Court. The initial service was sent on December 20, 2021. She received the service on or about December 27, 2021.

One typically has twenty days to reply to this type of service

The original request was for a “show cause notice,” to be sent; however, the need to reply within twenty days also meets the requirements to show cause.

Ms. Washbourne is being accused of protecting a bad police investigation by the Kyle Police Department. She is accused of failing her duties as a special prosecutor and focusing on injustice rather than justice.

Ms. Washbourne appears to have until January 17, 2022 to file a reply. the botched police investigation where Ms. Washbourne is the lead prosecutor is scheduled for trial on February 7, 2022. This is where members of the Kyle Police Department, to include its Police Chief JOHN SMITH (wait, we mean Jeffrey Blake Barnett), will have to testify to his own conduct.
